We’re delighted to bring Cupid’s Ground Bass to St Mary’s Church, Warwick, as part of Leamington Music’s concert series.
Centred on our debut album of the same name, the programme explores the extremities of love through the groundbreaking vocal and instrumental music of seventeenth-century Italy. Music by Cavalli, Falconieri, Cazzati, Kapsberger, Strozzi, Uccellini and Monteverdi moves between tenderness, longing, wit and virtuosity, shaped by recurring ground-bass patterns and our own diminutions and arrangements.
Tenor Kieran White joins Edmund Taylor and Maxim Del Mar, violins; Jacob Garside, cello; Daniel Murphy, theorbo; and Matthew Brown, harpsichord.
Bellot Ensemble is BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Baroque Ensemble, supported by the Royal College of Music and the National Centre for Early Music.
A free Behind the Music pre-concert talk begins at 6.45pm. The concert begins at 7.30pm, includes a 20-minute interval and is expected to finish at 9.30pm.
